Double Fence Gate: Basics and Entryway Placement

For many who are installing or upgrading a fence on their property, gate selection will be just as important as the actual fence itself, if not even more so. A double gate approach is increasingly popular for many different fence types – if this is your desired gate type, where should you be thinking about placing it to allow for optimal use and blending with your other outdoor aesthetics?

At Utah Fence Warehouse, we’re here to help. We offer a wide range of fence gates to meet any need for clients around Layton and other parts of Utah, including double gates and many other varieties. In this two-part blog series, we’ll discuss some of the key reasons why many people go with a double fence gate, plus some common placement options and the pros and cons of each.

Why a Double Gate?

There are several reasons why people choose a double gate, rather than just a single one.

First, it provides an extra layer of security that’s greater than what a single gate can offer. A double gate is much more difficult to breach or force open, so you get the peace of mind that comes with knowing your property is better protected against intruders.

Second, it’s more convenient. When you have two gates set up side by side, your car or other large items can pass through without having to back out of the single gate opening. It also allows for more efficient use of space when both gates open in opposite directions – making it easier for people and vehicles to move freely in and out of your property.

When it comes to placement, there are a few different options that you can consider. Our next few sections will go over the pros and cons of each.

As a Yard or Garden Entryway

One of the more common uses of double gates is as an entryway to a yard or garden. This option is great for people who want to keep their outdoor space secure but also be able to easily access it. It allows you to have a more private and aesthetically pleasing entrance that blends in with the rest of your property.

For instance, let’s say you have a large, open garden that sprawls across the back of the house. You can install two gates on either side of the garden, which will restrict access to those who are authorized to enter and give your garden a more polished look when closed.

In part two of our series, we’ll go over more placement options for double gates and discuss the right type of gate to fit your needs.
